Fred's 3rd Journal

Big deal

Not much can surprise people especially after the advent of the internet. But occasionally, there are things that greatly astound our perceptions. And it’s not because they’re fresh, new, something that strikes with rejoice and wonder. These surprises rather unexpectedly, assault our hope sometimes.
The French in the 18th century showed to the world the power of democracy, or in other words, popular sovereignty. However, soon enough, money worked its way into making sure that it would be democracy’s very weakness. Our modern society is so easily influenced that influencing became a trend among politicians and of course, investors. Teleguiding people has never been more exploitable. It’s indeed surprising to find out that India has a thriving movie industry that overcomes Hollywood by generating twice as much profit and reaching billions of viewers in India alone. Nonetheless, despite modest disparities when paralleled to its American counterpart, it was unanticipated realizing that such industry features, as the utmost in stardom, Aishwarya Rai, an Indian actress with so many fan clubs that she makes the Beatles look like a garage band. What can by no chance surprise is that she is yet another fabricated role model to be mimicked. Perfectly reproduced as a true American icon, Aish, as she prefers to be referred to, sells not only no-kissing Indian movies, she disseminates the ever-looked-after consumption culture to a remote-controlled society and it doesn’t take great labor to bring vividly to the mind who’s behind it. Yes, Hollywood is second to none.
