Reiko's 4th Journal
It is interesting that naming has a trend in every generation. When I was a child, I didn’t really like my name since it was a common name during my childhood days. I wanted to have a name which sounded very unique so that it made me outstanding. Some of my friends had uncommon names and I felt they were so cool. In Japan every year statistics for the most popular names of the new babies is released and some of the names blow me away. The names are very different from the ones of my generation and we cannot find the names that once were common or popular in our generation. Today, parents try to name their babies uniquely and modernly, as a result, interestingly, the common names of last generation are getting rare. I think that the names that once were considered to be old-fashioned will be popular ones in the future.

Reiko, I like your name especially when I pronounce it. I also didn't like my name, because it was so unique. So when teachers wanted to choose students to ask questions, I was the first one to be picked, because they usually chose peculiar names. It was terrible, when I was not ready to answer.
Your situation and mine were totally different. My name is rare. But, my name has so hard pronunciation for foreigners. So, I decide to make my English name...
hi Reiko you know I think most of the children wants to change thier names even me when I was child because my name was uncommon at that time
Hi RaycoRay,
I don't really understand your name but I like it. It sounds very familiar and it is easy to remember. That's why I could remember your name when I first met you! My name is very unpopular in Vietnam. When I was young others kept made fun of me but now I like it and I think it's unique!
I'm in same situation with you, my name is also really popular in Korea so that I wanted to have unique nickname, but I even haven't got any nickname, either.
So, I would like to give a special name to my future baby.
I started to feel that when I name my babies, I'll have to think about their names phonetically, too.
