A Talk show has a special power which makes people confess their true thoughts as far as the host has the ability to lead the guest to do so.
When Hillary Clinton appeared on Tyra’s show, I wondered what kind of topic will be dealt with. It could be about her pledge of presidential election, Obama who is Hillary’s rival, political issues. But what they talked about was her first date with Bill, stories about her youth, an image as Chelsea’s mother and Bill’s scandal. Mostly, they focused on her private life and Hillary showed she is not different from people in the audience. For me, at least, she looked friendly like someone from my neighborhood. Moreover, I saw her get a bit upset when she talked about Bill’s scandal, she is also just an ordinary woman the same as others before being a presidential candidate. I’m sure that it wasn’t easy for her to talk about it. Because she had to be reminded of that time and talk about her sorrow to millions of people in audience. I think having an affair happens a lot these days but it can be the biggest sorrow for all members of the family. I felt rather sorry for her about her faith as a public person. It was her choice and it’s the thing that she has to manage, though. Anyway I think this show might succeed to attract a lot of people’s attention and Hillary managed to show her intimate image, which is not usually shown.
On the other hand, I saw the limitations of Tyra Bank’s show. This show is, of course, aiming to women who mostly don’t like to hear too ‘serious things’. But they should have talked about her political opinion or effort to be the president or her thoughts about Obama and so on, at least, as the biggest issue of Hillary is her running for the presidency at this point.
